I had a great time taking part in my first GMTK game jam and definitely took on way more than I should have (lesson hopefully learned this time....)
I wanted to fix a couple of items that people had raised during the GMTK jam before moving on to some other projects.
UPDATE
Update on some areas that I have improved since the end of the Jam:
- Enhanced Trade Route information
- Colors and icons to show routes with no trades and routes with no assigned ships
- Added Supply and demand icons to all nodes
- Should help understand where trades are
- Updated camera
- Removed distance on drawing
- This was not fun or rewarding
- Upgrades have been removed too
- Now ships just take longer to refuel
- Adding ship refuel icon
- Appears when whip is refuelling
- Added Colors to resources to try to help differentiate them
- Made tooltips appear faster
- Should help improve the overall experience
- Removed different price modifiers
- instead of each node having its own numeric modifier nodes now just have a general surplus or scarcity which double or halve pricing
- Improved pacing
- Upgrade pricing now scales better at the start allowing you to buy more routes and ships faster
- Improved scoring system - now times are shown instead of the accumulated time.
- Lots of small bug fixes and tweaks
I am aware that the game has no tutorial still, hopefully the mechanics are easy enough to pick up with the extra feedback.
